Our Story
CCEL was born from a passion for collegiate esports and a belief in its educational power. Our team started as student competitors and campus organizers, later moving into careers in game development, education, and esports leadership.
Founder Roshan Uma launched successful programs at Norco College and Santiago Canyon College, where he saw how esports could inspire students and build community. But he also saw the need for stronger connections between programs and clearer paths from campus to career.
That vision led to the creation of the California Collegiate Esports League (CCEL) – a nonprofit focused on uniting schools, empowering students, and building a competitive, collaborative future for collegiate esports in California.
